...land of the photo ID in order to vote to keep elections clean, and the land of the DINO - aka Democrats In Name Only. Last year, there were several recall elections held, including one in our district. There was one candidate running against Harsdorf...until the Wisconsin GOP convinced Isaac Weix, a Republican, ran as a Dem to force a primary to "give Sheila more time to raise money for the election". He said that to any reporter who asked him - he admitted to not only running as a Democrat who was not a Democrat, but that he was doing it to force a primary. He's at it again, along with five others. Appleton Post Crescent Editorial Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Editorial Twin Cities Pioneer Press Article Wisconsin State Journal (this one is great, because each of the DINOs signed an affidavit that they are affiliated with and support the party for which they are running. It's a freakin' felony, as stated in this piece.) WAOW News (Interview with one of the DINOs...he admits straight up that he is not a Democrat nor does he live in the district he is entered in.) Oh, hell. Just go to any search engine and type in Wisconsin recall fake democrat. You'll get more than you bargained for. I used to be proud to live here, with great schools and decent jobs. We had fewer new jobs so far in 2012 than other states, and our schools are suffering miserably from the funding cuts.
There's so many DINO'S and RINO'S running around, maybe they can just call themselves that, and have a coupla new political parties.
Kris is sober, but pissed off. I felt this would happen, though. The people in this part of the state have a little trouble using their brains for anything other than how to hide from the deer during hunting season. Combine that with the fact that the donations for Walker came mostly from out of state (like the Koch Brothers) and he ran a Karl Rove inspired campaign, and it's not terribly surprising. The two bright spots are that we took the last seat needed to control the Senate, and that the John Doe investigation is ongoing. When they nail that POS, I'm having signs made up with his stupid looking picture (not hard to come by if anyone outside the state is paying attention) and putting "How do you like him now?" on them. GAH. Time to turn my attention to the local school, where I'm about to open a can of public whup ass. May be driving my daughter to another town for school next fall, and I'm not alone. Gathering the troops and taking it public, we are. (Proper spacing of paragraphs is an issue for me this morning, apparently...)
Now we wait it out. Not much we can do, really, other than that. I'm taking out my aggression on the school board. lol That's what's great about living in a small town with a two county weekly newspaper...they report on the school board meetings in each town every month. Like I'm not well known up here enough already. (It's not my first time going after the school via the newspaper, but it's the first time I'm going to the board. Last time it never occurred to me. This time, I'm much wiser about how things work...hah!)
And here is a great view of what went down here yesterday - courtesy of the New Yorker.com How is this okay? Really? It's not about Wisconsin. It's about BIG MONEY taking over the country even more, and the dipshits that live up here being unable to see that.
It's funny that Teabaggers whine about the Constitution and seem to think the Founders would be fine with America being owned by corporations. Where's the democracy in that? Was that really the vision they had for us? The baggers are fine with it. How much crazier do these people have to get before Americans wake up?

When corporations start paying some taxes instead of getting a gazilliion loopholes to dodge taxes, I'll be more inclined to agree with you, Dave. The unions don't have even half the money or the tax breaks that the corporations have. If it was equal for all, so we all had insurance and pensions, I'd agree with you. I've never worked for a union, because I came of age too late to get in on that great gig, but I don't begrudge those who do. If the unions had the kind of money the corporations do, Barrett's contributions would have been significantly higher. Just posted at TRS on this, and I'm late getting on the road to work my part time job that pays for the gas my car uses every two weeks so I can do my part time job with a few bucks left over for toilet paper. edit for clarity...oy...
I just got robocall invited to a Romney event! June 8th and Bayliss Park across the Missouri river. Why he needs to robocall the Nebraska residents, I'll never understand. I'm not sure the last time they voted Democrat, but I think the Omaha metro area did support Obama, so maybe that's the reason.
Billionaires like Koch are determined to wipe out the unions, and they seem to be succeeding. Someone told me years ago that the wealthy wanted to wipe out the middle class, and I thought that sounded crazy. But now it seems to be happening. The question is whether Americans will just accept it or fight back eventually.
In some ways I agree with your sentiment, but the unions (at one time a wonderful thing) became as greedy as the phucking politicians, ambulance chasing lawyers and prick pharmaceutical companies. Union members that didn't do shit were protected when called on their piss poor performance. Politicians make a career and one helluva pension for doing basically nada but feeding bullshit to the hungry masses, pharmaceutical companies give phuck one about patients, their concern is the almighty dollar and they've show this in their exorbitant pricing and piss poor trials. Which leads to the lawyers getting richer by suing the unions (workers comp & personal injury), pharma's, physicians, and healthcare facilities thus driving costs through the roof.. If people want this country to be run like a business, who will be left to "bail out the USA," by the same token ... when the Unions back the young, incompetent asshole rather than the old hard working guy who put his 30 years in and ate, slept and shit the company line (because NEW blood, HOPE for the future, and CHANGE) will bring more dues ... exactly who will be paying those dues? Unfortunately Americans quit fighting long ago, if we could tax apathy there would be no deficit.
