New bbcodes added (Spoiler, and others)

New bbcodes have been added, the most useful one being a "spoiler" tag that will hide all the text you want to hide until the viewer clicks a button to expose the information.

This is how it's used in a message:
    Code:
[spoiler="Click for spoilers!"]Some text in here to hide[/spoiler]

    or
    [spoiler]Spoiler type text.[/spoiler]

See this post for a demo.

See this page for the help page on all the bbcodes:

I get email notifications that somebody has replied to a topic I've participated in, but the link in the email is invalid, or I visit the message board, and I can't find the conversation.

This may be due to me trying things out on the test system. I'm the only one that can access this code base, and I use it a lot to try new things before I try to unleash them into the wild on this site. I try some replies and profile posts on the test system to test new features or styles, and sometimes, I forget to turn off email notifications on the test system when it's been ported over from this site.

To verify if you're a "victim" of this circumstance, the links in the email will point to test.sneakydave.com. If that's the case, just ignore the email, or start a conversation with me, and call me names. I'm working on setting up a number of procedures that should make sure the test environment doesn't send out email notices when it's being replicated.

Due to some configuration issues, the SSL feature on sneakydave.com has disabled. Once the mobile apps, board software, and content delivery network supports it a little better, it'll be enabled again.

When I visit the site, I get a message that says "Your computer has DNS settings that mean you probably have the DNS changer malware".

This is a warning that your computer is probably infected with the popular malware that changes your DNS settings through your hosts file or other means to redirect search results to other web sites, as well as cause other problems.

The servers responsible for the malware have been confiscated and operated by the FBI for a while, but those servers will go offline in July, which means computers still infected with the malware won't be able to connect to sites on the internet after these FBI managed servers go offline.

This effort is at attempt to notify users still infected with the malware how to remedy the situation.

For more information, visit the FBI's information page:

Do you have a mobile style that works better on my phone than the default style? I don't want to download and install an app just to view the site?

I've added a mobile style for devices that support it. This site will detect if you're using a mobile device and switch to the alternate style automatically. At the moment, there isn't a way to switch back to the normal default style, but I'll fix that soon.

Oh, I guess my laptop is considered a mobile device.

Really? You're getting the mobile style on your laptop? Is it a Mac?

Let me know if you're still getting the mobile style, I may have fat fingered a mobile user agent string. If it is still wonky, let me know if you can tell me what version of Safari you're using.

Also, go to this web site, and it'll tell you what your user agent is, you can copy and paste it and send it to me, and I'll investigate.

None of the mobile user agents I've defined match these potential user agents I've found for Safari:

Try it now, you may have to force a refresh, however that's done in Safari, I minimized the list of user agents I used to windows, iphones, blackberry, and android devices.

Thank you, Dave. I have my favorite style back. I could live with the mobile style, but I like the original style best.

If I don't want to read a new thread, how do I make it disappear from unread or "What's New" list?

Read the threads you want, then click the "Mark Forums Read" under (to the right) the "Forums" tab at the top.
