Conservatives in general like to portray themselves as victims..... They talk about minorities getting preferential treatment, the war against Christians, the gay agenda "being shoved down their throat", etc. These are people who fear any kind of change. In the past, they were the people opposed to the civil rights movement and women getting the vote. Today, they're the people opposed to gay rights or Muslims being able to build mosques where they want ect. ect. ect. I have no sympathy for people who are now crying about having to play on a level playing field. We see this from all kinds of conservatives...... Just look at the 1% crying about class warfare, claiming they're being attacked for being rich. Wrong, you're being attacked for rigging the rules of the game.

This administration is the most racially divisive president we've ever had. Eric Holder and half the Justice Dept. should be brought up on charges for their unwillingness to prosecute racial crimes when committed against whites and for the unbelievably inept handling of the Fast and Furious gun running debacle. You nailed it, Buffalo. I'm the product of a mixed marriage...One side of the family is staunchly GOP. The other side are Diehard Dems. The GOP side has sloooowly evolved to become considerably less enamored of GOP politicians. My maternal grandfather didn't envision conservative politics endorsing corporate welfare, undermining the separation of church & state, increasing the tax burden on the poor to minimize taxes for the extremely wealthy, making education increasingly inaccessible to middle & lower income students or increasing the divisions b/w races, religions, nationalities & income. He'd be appalled at the professional whiiiiners that have inundated the GOP & absconded with its historically tough minded, independent soul.
I live with a traditionally Republican man. His whole life, he has been Republican. Living with me, he's learned a little bit more about the machinations of politics in general. When the recalls against the Republicans here in WI was gearing up last year, I showed him the newspaper article about the DINO - Democrat In Name Only. He was pissed, and voted accordingly. Now we are gearing up to Recall Walker -- and he's on the Recall the Bastard side. My family was all Republican, too. I voted for Reagan the first year I could vote. By the time the next election came around, I was already on the Democrat side. I think people just get used to being one or the other, and stop investigating things for themselves. It's kinda like religion, in a sad sort of way.
