That makes no more sense than to assert that Christianity is based on 'Jew hate'. All of the religions have their fanatics & those whose agenda is based on hatred & fear rather than love & mutual respect.

Jewish soldiers in Lebanon expressed shock that Muslim's grieved the loss of their murdered children, sibs, friends & colleagues b/c they hadn't known they felt such emotions as love & loss. They were also surprised to discover the poverty so many lived in b/c they'd believed they were just dirty & indifferent to grooming & hygiene. When it was up close & personal, many Israeli soldiers confessed they were amazed to discover Muslims were as human as they themselves were b/c they'd been raised to believe Muslims were subhuman.

Here in the USA there's the inimitable Rev Fred Phelps & his Christian flock picketing funerals with signs proclaiming 'God Hates Fags'. And of course the KKK & Christian White Supremacist groups continue to be irrationally hate filled, advocating violence & mayhem in their *holy* quest.

clearly, bigotry & hatred is not isolated to Islam. It's alive & thriving among many Christian & Jewish adherents as well. It's amazing how often people remain blithely (willfully?) ignorant of bigoted, hate filled agendas that are Jewish or Christian rather than Muslim.

None of them are right. ALL should be opposed.

Islam is no more a religion based on hatred & violence than Judaism or Christianity.
The majority of Muslims, Christians & Jews do not advocate hatred, bigotry & violence. It is a mistake to judge any religion by the actions of a deranged minority. Or should we judge Christians by the likes of Rev Fred Phelps?

Atrocities have been committed by all religions. Muslim fanatics are neither worse nor better than Christian & Jewish fanatics. Frankly, the Bible often depicts a violent, jealous, petty & cruel god. Prejudice & hatred are poor tools for persuasion. They indicate a paucity of reason & ultimately attract only those dedicated to ignorance, fear & darkness.

What is so inherently frightening about those who believe somewhat differently? All of the Holy Books justify *their* violence against *others*. For this reason, posting snippets from an Islamic Holy Book is not an indicator of actual beliefs or practices. I won't use inflammatory snippets from the Bible to judge Christians or Jews. Nor will I use a handful of sentences taken from an Islamic Holy Book to judge Muslims.

We're hostile invaders in Iraq. We've torn the country apart, wreaked havoc on the infrastructure & killed tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis. It is both disingenuous & obscene to continually belittle Muslims as violent & hate filled given the actions of the USA govt. Ugly American doesn't even approximate our history in the region.

Those who are obsessed with what other Holy Books espouse should look to their own as well. The Bible is as twisted & violent as any of them. Is this to say that Christians & Jews are inherently twisted & violent? Not at all, but that's equally true of Muslims. Judging the many by the few is simply wrong regardless of who it is.

Flinging about snippets from a Muslim Holy Book is ridiculous when the Bible stands up to rigorous scrutiny no better. Those determined to hate will do so. Undoubtedly some will seek refuge in religion & insist that their bigotry & violence has been decreed by God. Humbug.
