Who's going to be Romney's VP nominee? Does it even matter? Will it be one of the other Republican candidates, or some unknown? A woman? A minority? The standard quo?

In my opinion, I think Romney's ego keeps him from picking one of his Republican opponents, and probably just goes for some senator that won't get in his way, maybe Paul Ryan, but I doubt it (2 first names!)

To help his chances though, I think he needs to get a minority. Maybe Herman Cain, or is he too "out there"? He wouldn't pick Palin would he?

He's not likely to pick Palin or Bachmann since they talk too much. Maybe he will again pick Ms. Healy as his second-in-command since he already knows she keeps her mouth shut and does what she is told. Maybe he will allow her to report to him as he does his wife.

Hey. A girl can dream, can't she? Even I know he's too smart to pick either of those two.

I agree that a strong personality like Christie, Ryan, or Rubio, while possibly helping him win the white house, could become a divisive factor later on. That's why Obama picked an empty suit like Biden, who's basically just a bobblehead that nods whenever the "great man" speaks...

A couple of good names to look at might be Tim Pawlenty or Bobby Jindal...

Pawlenty is an evangelical so that might help Mittens.

Jindal is not quiet enough so I don't think Mittens would want him.

I do think Jindal wants to be president someday so he might change his mind about not wanting VP.

Maybe this was just news to me, but I was bouncing around the left and right wing channels last night, and heard something interesting that Romney should make Condoleeza Rice his running mate in 2012.

Politico has a poll to think she's the top candidate for veep....

That's as good an analysis of Biden as I've ever read.

It doesn't happen very often, but I thought that Obama might benefit himself if he dumped Biden for this ticket. But maybe that would indicate that the dems weren't confident in winning 2012

Senator Kelly Ayotte from New Hampshire is considered a "long shot"...

Analysis: Ayotte called long shot in 'Veepstakes'

PORTSMOUTH — Could a nationally unknown politician such as New Hampshire's U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte become the Sarah Palin of 2012?

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney made a campaign stop Monday in the Granite State with Ayotte at his side, and Ayotte has become part of early media speculation about Romney's vice presidential nominee choices — just as freshman Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida did when he campaigned with Romney recently in Pennsylvania.

As is often the case, said veteran pollster Andy Smith of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, the so-called "Veepstakes" speculation by the national media usually goes nowhere. Campaigns enjoy generating the speculation because it provides an extra dose of local and regional media coverage in battleground states such as New Hampshire. As an example, Smith said, he was contacted by "six or seven reporters" (including one from the Herald) Monday, asking the same questions about Ayotte — in part because she and Romney had appeared together and drawn a large national media contingent.

He said the so-called vice presidential candidate "lists" are generated "by reporters for reporters" and typically contain the same set of names, such as Ayotte, Rubio, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.

"I don't think she (Ayotte) is seriously being considered," he said. "This is the kind of stuff campaigns do around the country."

Now, according to a couple of sources I've recently read, Romney's best chance of winning is to get JEB BUSH from Florida to run as veep, this would almost seal the deal to win Florida, according to these reports. But I'm not sure a VP pick automatically wins you a state, plus, isn't Jeb a little too high profile for Romney?
