Scott Samuel has effectively fired Lou DiDona ("beer_auctions", originally VP of Sales/Corporate Development) and Bill Bogardus (biggbill, VP of Business Development) without notice or formal writing from Ethical Technologies over disputes about the direction of Ethical Tools.

Scott and Brian Deloria (allegedly lovers) have been putting a lot of time, money, and energy into one of Scott's hobbies, online multiplayer games, Runescape being one of them. They are supposedly hosting some servers/features for players of the game, and that led to some consternation with Lou and Bill about the time and money spent on the effort. Scott's recent auctions show a number of bids he's made to purchase "GPs" for the Runescape game, a massive multiplayer online game. Ethical Tools is a "corporate sponsor" for RuneHQ. Some more information is located on the RuneHQ site, including a quote from Scott:

Thank you folks for everything, and in the next few weeks, well, we're gonna rock this world in a way that ain't ever been seen. :)

Scott uses the name "EthicalScott" on the RuneHQ message boards, and his Runescape gamer tag is "Ethicaldusty". Other RuneHQ messages from him exist here,  here,  here, and here. Doesn't look like he's putting a lot of effort into Ethical Technologies to me. Notice in the "demographics" thread, Scott is looking to see who's playing the game, and it turns out that the majority (35%) are boys between the ages of 13-15. Here, he tells game users that he doesn't want ANY of them to think he's unapproachable. And a familiar long-ass post about nothing in general.

Here's how he does his introduction to the runehq site, claiming it costs 4 grand a month just to run the runehq site:

And since I run the company, to be totally open, I pay the 4K cash (real) a month or so it costs to run this place personally. However, that does NOT make me unapproachable or some big-wig hotshot. Please never feel that you cannot talk to me openly.)

Allegedly, some of the things this "Runescape" venture was doing to make income from its members was anything but ethical, and possibly illegal, and that was the reason for the latest round of resentment from Bill and Lou against Scott; Scott wanted to practically give away information or trinkets in eBay auctions related to runescape, hoping 50,000 kids would use their parents credit cards to 'purchase' the items, while "Ethical Technologies" would reap its real income in the cash received by signing up new eBay members through Commision Junctions's affiliate program.

This happened around the weekend of 6/24, because when Lou and Bill showed up to the Ethical office on Monday morning, Scott had the locks changed. They weren't even allowed to get their personal belongings from the office for days. They were told to stay away from the property and not to use any email accounts.

Also, most investor monetary opportunities for Ethical were ruined by Scott by an off the cuff comment he made on a phone conversation to a potential investor. By at least one account, Scott appeared to be trying to "big time" the group that was almost willing to infuse cash into the Ethical Technologies operation.

Currently, Bill and Lou are still members of the Auction Ethics message board (a board that Scott says doesn't have anything to do with Ethical Technologies). I don't know why Scott would allow them on the board, they also appear on the Ethical Technologies About Us page. Maybe Brian hasn't updated the pages yet, or they're just going to let the site die a horrible death. Biggbill has started a website that's currently under construction called http://www.ethicalfools.com. I don't know if its just a threat to Scott, or if there will be any actual information or not on it.

According to reports, Scott, Mike Rudi, Brian, and 2 developers are still with Ethical Technologies, as well as Monika Delle (VP of human resources). Yakim Almaleh (former VP of Corporate Development) has also left.

As you see in this thread at Ethical, Scott has started the secret code discussion he starts when he's been suffering. BIGG BILL IS A SNAKE (Scott), and YOU ARE A COCKROACH (Bill) are messages to individuals, yet making them public to people in the know. Soon, we may see Scott's promises to come clean with all information, as well as a 3 page explanation of his actions, but don't count on any real facts. These are things we've all seen in the past. Even his long time pal Ray Mader from eBay's early days has become disenfranchised with Ethical Technologies, and the management there. That has to put a frown on Scott's face.

I've heard a lot of reports of a lot of drug abuse by Scott, who claims to have been alcohol free for 7 years. Although these reports seem to be recurring, I haven't heard any stories where Scott pressured anybody into doing any drugs, or that he had shown up to work screwed up.

As expected, Sandy List (boardbimbo, gingertree, teddygrahams, greentigerbeads, cyberyenta), recently back from a second suicide watch, comes to Scott's defense regarding Scott's admiration of young high school boys.

Sandy, of course, enjoys mailing marital aids to 7 year old girls, and contacting 18 year old girl's teachers in high school, so its no fault of hers that she accepts Scott's behavior as the norm.

Ex-employees Biggbill and Marble show up. Jay Senese of "onecentcds" and "jayandmarie" show up to defend Scott's honor, and then everyone is reminded that Jay received a fee from Scott to license the "jayandmarie scheduler" that Ethical Tools is hawking, although none of "jayandmarie"'s auction show any sign of Ethical Tool usage. Jay and Scott are both on the board of the "eBay Elite" group (now called PESA).
