The latest announcement from Gegy tells us that they will remain in beta testing throughout December.

Looking at the OAUA membership page, listing the user to user discounts....
http://www.auctionusers.org/membership.shtml

there's a "Coins-2000" user from Canada offering free shipping in Canada, including a "free banner on my site".

And imagine that, clicking on the eBay link results in "UserID not found".

Sounds like Troy E. MacDonald and AuctionEagle to me!

By the way, the gegy home page has been re-arranged, but contains the same info.

I swear I wasn't behind this.

Its not REALLY gegy related, but it might as well be:

I don't know if kellyguide.com has any connections to the world's largest dot-con startup evern, gegy.com, but this reminds me too much of auctioneagle.com.

We'll see if the very first post on the kellyguide.com draws thousands, if not millions, of visitors to auctioncrotch.com

As predicted, my post in the gegy forum of kellyguide was deleted, although I'm still listed as the "last post".

It wasn't even a nasty post! It just said to search OTWA, OAUA, and auctioncrotch for gegy information. Why do they list gegy with a trademark symbol, when a trademark hasn't even been applied for yet?

:dumbass:

I'll be contacting the owner of kellyguide to see what, if any, connections they have with gegy.com.

We did delete Sneaky's thread, but we moved the link to a better location which already shows several hits.  To here: http://www.kellyguide.com/auctiontalk.htm  We gave reason in a direct email.
Thank you, and Happy Bidding!

What the heck, a response even?! Well, you certainly CAN'T be connected to gegy then.

Thank you for the email explanations. My apologies for making the assumption that kellyguide.com is "in cahoots" with gegy.com. That certainly is not the case.

I'll add kellyguide.com to the list of AuctionCrotch web links, and if anybody has any questions for kellyguide, I am quite sure that they will answer them.

Thanks again!

Primer,

Maybe you would like to tell us where you got the scoop on gagme, since their Announcements board has not been updated with this information.

Do you have an inside track to Troyboy and his group of misfits?

Come now primer,

You must know, that is what many online auction participants affectionately call Gegy.

If you didn't know that, then I guess you aren't much of a newshound at all.

You have mistaken bitter hyperbole for news.  We do not derive our news from forums where hearsay and grade-school insults are counted as relevant commentary.  If you truly read the story in its entirety then you would know the source of the information.  As to your insults, we can only advise that you exercise your right not to frequent our site and save yourself the frustration of having your malicious views thwarted by relevant facts.
It is unfortunate, especially so close to Christmas, to read such derogatory and adolescent drivel.  May Santa put some maturity and adulthood in your stocking this year.

Sneaks,

I think your first instincts were right.

That post by primer certainly sounds similar to something Troyboy and his band of misfits would compose.

Maybe you should clue primer in to what this site is all about? Nah, this is too much fun!

Hi Saysyou!

something tells me that primer doesn't care too much what a few pesky actual auction sellers might think....  he or she is too busy trying to grade our posts.

Primer, do you have any hard news yet on which banking institutions are handling the transactions for Gegypay?

Same old, yaaawn, same old.

Hi Tommy,

Well we all know what happened the last time someone underestimated us lowly auction users. ;)

Oh, that's right, that would be considered hyperbole as well.
Except for the fact it was super sleuthing on the part of someone who wasn't going to stand for Troyboy's holier than thou attitude.

Wonder what someone is going to dig up on kellyguide.com with their sorry ass attitude?

The facts are all right here in this thread, and the original Gegy thread.

I have no doubt that if Troy MacDonald is lying or spamming again, we'll find out one way or another.

Hey, wait a second. I thought my post detailing where to find the factual gegy information was still included on the kellyguide site, instead, there is just a link to AuctionCrotch.

I'm requesting that the link to AuctionCrotch is removed, as I don't feel its in the best interest of this board.

Kellyguide is also the first January Kook Of The Month Nomination!

As a Christmas gift, I've forwarded through snail mail printed copies of these gegy threads, other threads, and the gegylies document to the eBay legal team for investigation.

A little bird told me they might be interested in the gegy.com/auctioneagle.com connection, and they helped me organize the information and find out where to send it.

So thanks goes to that person!

I wonder if gegy.com/auctioneagle.com will end up like reverseauction?

Primer, you might want to update your links. The OAUA is not found at oaua.com. You'd think that, but that's a different, and better, story.

LOL ain't that the truth.

Primer a news hound? She tried to find out how to get other people to supply her news content by copying other people's stories, not just linking to them, according to a thread at DevShed forums.

They politely told her you either have to pay people for their content or link to it.

I wonder who told her Gegy.com is a strategic "partner" of Oracle and Sun. I wonder if Sun and Oracle know about it. In news release speak maybe it means they finally decided to purchase some real Oracle software and servers. Partners???!!!

I'm still wondering if there is some connection between kellyguide.com and Troy or an emperor's minion.

 dynamic news content
I am wanting...to put news content on my site, much like DEVSHED but i need direction on where to get the content (the news story sources. I would like to have bylines with short abstracts...maybe a relevant picture to identify each story...and then a hyperlink to "see more of the story"---within my site. I understand that I can use PHP or ASP, or XML to pull the stories in, but where do I get the content? Are the buyable programs (no leasing or licensing) that I can set up on my server then link to my site? Oh, and I'm not looking for affiliate/freebee stuff that requires their links or templates to be used. I want my own categories, selections and customizations. I've been there...done that! If you have any real guidance, insights, or experience to offer, I would appreciate it. Help????

I'm not sure that there are many organisations that would be happy to have you present their actual story content on your site without you paying them quite a lot of money. There are many ways to grab headlines which link to the full story on an external site. I see from your site you're using Moreover - this is one way. Many content providers make a RSS file available which lists headlines and links to stories that can be parsed as XML - but don't release the stories themselves.

Try doing a search for "news syndication" or something similar. There are plenty of companies involved in the business, but whether you can get exactly what you want cheaply, I doubt. Most synication programmes still require a credit/link back.

I think primer is trying to get fresh, unique auction site news, and the only site to provide any content was gegy. Nobody else will publish any news about gegy, at least not any news distributed by gegy.

Everything else on kellyguide has been lifted from other sites, organizations, or forums.

Sneaks,

Did you by chance get the gegysucks page archived before it got pulled?

It had some great info on it. I hope you also let ebay know about the elance connection. That is where the request for the  email harvesting program was posted, bid on and won.

On gegy's announcement board, there's a post on 12/29 that they're going to launch gegypay first in "early 2002".

With that statement, I expect we won't see any auctions until 2003.
