Progress in the BOD meetings
« on: February 28, 2002, 11:05:50 AM »

I don't know why the great minds of the OAUA decided to "privatize" the BOD Meetings and Agenda forum, but in the latest meeting (yes, one actually happened), Toy Ranch claims that some progress was made on getting the OAUA domain names to the Auction Users Association through AuctionWatch.

I think I've flip flopped on this issue. As I recall, Mark registered those names before there was even an Online Auction Users Association forumulated. Gingertree praised him for snatching them up.

It could be possible that whoever owns the domain names (I assume its still Mark Dodd), could fight to keep them, because he nabbed them before there was anything trademarked or filed.

I believe Auction Patrol (Paul?) owned them first. I don't know what hands that business has passed through since. I sort of put it on ignore.

OAUA is http://www.auctionusers.org/

and a certain chat board that had a brief existence was
http://www.auctionusers.com

I believe that both were registered by Paul at the same time and if you click on the latter you will also note that it is for sale. So much for the OAUA having sole rights to "AuctionUsers".....

Hi Kevin,

Way back....in a thread at AW we (you and I included but not exclusively) were talking of the need for such an organization. Someone mentioned OAUA as a possible name and Mark snapped them up pretty much immediately. I believe .net, .com & .org.

There were a few problems getting them trasferred over so though the association ultimately did go with the name Online Auctionusers Association, waiting for the OAUA domains would have held things up indefinately (obviously as we would still be waiting). So we went with auctionusers.org and kept the ball rolling.

This is a very brief history...
