Ethical Tools Down for 21 Days!

On March 20, 2006, in Quarrels, by David

Scott Samuel, possibly the lone survivor at EthicalTools.com, may have lost control of the eBay tools web site.

He claims a thunderstorm wiped out the software and hardware, and there weren’t any backups, but more believable reasons are being talked about at The Ross Board, including the possibility that eBay finally got tired of taking Scott’s crap, and just shut him down.

He still has PeSA followers though, people that turn their heads to Scott and his boner talk with pre-teens, non-payment of employees, and his threats and drug use.

Six days.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it to come back.

Bobby was right. The tools went down because eBay pulled their API access.

And in order to cover that fuckup, they brought down the web server too.

The tools run on different servers than the web site. The tools still worked in the past even when the web site was down.

There’s no way every one of their servers got hit. Losing access to the API is the only thing that makes sense. And since the smurf hasn’t sold any beer cans since last month, I don’t see their API access coming back up any time soon.

It’s too bad all of those Pesa people lost so much money. Maybe if they’d have listened to us rather than Ben and DebNRoo they might be in better shape.

Goodtopics.com was recently down due to not paying their hosting bill. Mad-Cows.com (same owners, Patty Smith and Dave Kellog) was recently found to be using an illegal copy of the Search Engine Optimization software “vbseo”. Patty finally paid the goodtopics.com bill (formerly mootalk.com, moocash, and mootropolis.com), and Dave removed the vbseo software from mad-cows.com after numerous complaints. Both sites require actual (“real”) names and phone numbers for registration/confirmation, and also subscription payments are required to access parts of their communities.

Also posted about at The Ross Board:

Following are claims from a former member about Dave Kellog’s uncharitable ways, lies, deceit, and down right meanness, from mootalk.com. Dave’s correctly identified as a “thieving loser”.

More Andale Problems

On November 11, 2005, in Quarrels, by David

At this point, anybody using Andale has been warned enough. Too many times have customers been screwed over by this company, without adequate support or refunds, the latest fiasco “should” be the final straw for ANY customer.

Andale in a nose dive

Former employee says:

I wish I had a nickel for every person I told NOT to use Andale years ago, about the Freedom debacle,m and how much it cost me, how I had the VP of Customer Service crying, how Munjal offered us $25 in Listing Fees after a week of downtime from hacker attacks (more commonly known as DOS attacks).

This can happen to any company, but for some reason, there is no redundancy plan with these folks because they are broke ass, both financially and technically. And don’t count on your refunds any time soon.

What a Cluster
Here is what I think about Andale….
Good ridens

Again, Crystal is crazy enough to go back to work for them, but all she does is push some papers around

Outstanding Issues

They can’t even figure out in the thread if what billing told them is correct or not.

Here’s the Auctionbytes article on the widespread outage. I seriously doubt it was caused by Oracle or eBay as they claim.

Here’s the status on the outage:
